Gosainkunda Lake trekking is an exciting pilgrimage adventure in the gentle wilderness of Langtang region. The myth goes that lord shiva made this lake when he plunged his trishul [trident] into a mountain for water; to cool his burning throat when he mistakenly took poison. There is a large rock in the center of the lake, which is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. People often claim they see Shiva lying in the water. The Langtang Gosainkunda Lake trek witnesses pilgrims in huge numbers in August; when at midnight a bright moon appears causing devotees to perform a ritual by taking a dip in the sacred lake.

On our way back after our trek to Gosainkunda Lake; we pass Laurebinayak with outstanding mountain views and forests. We then retrace our steps to Sing Gompa and Dhunche to board our vehicle back to the comforts of our hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival Day in Kathmandu (1,400m)

It is the first day of trip and your arrival day in Kathmandu Nepal. When you land at the airport in Kathmandu and come out at the arrival lounge, our company representative will welcome you with a warm smile. Then, we will drive you to the trip hotel where you can spend relaxing time. We will have a meeting in the evening to talk about the trip in details.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

After you take your breakfast, a beautiful day sightseeing tour of heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley is due today. Visit Swoyambhunath – the monkey temple; Patan Durbar Square – the medieval palace square; Pashupatinath – the open cremation ground for Hindus; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa.

Day 03: Drive to Dhunche (2,030m)

You must depart early for a long day drive to Dhunche. The road takes a scenic route, climbing high over the ridges to escape the Kathmandu Valley and provides you with a superb panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region that you will soon get familiar with. Day 04: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,230m)

We are on the first day of the trek to Thulo Syabru today. The first trail begins with a decent to a river; we cross the river and ascend to Thulo Syabru as you see the fascinating views of Langtang Himal and more. On the way of your trek you will pass through pine and Junipers forest. Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Day 05: Trek to Sing Gompa (3,330m)

From Thulo Syabru it is a steep climb through forests of oak, fir and rhododendron to the top of a ridge. From here it is only a short descent to Singh Gompa. There is a Buddhist monastery and a small cheese factory here. We Stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Trek to Lauri Binayak (3,920m)

The trek takes us to Lauri Binayak today. It will take us about 3-4 hours to reach there and we will be at the elevation of 3,920m above sea level.

Day 07: Trek to Gosainkunda (4,460m)

We will eventually reach Gosainkunda today after trekking for about 4 hours. After reaching the lake, we will spend the day exploring and enjoying the beauty of the lake and its surroundings.

Day 08: Hike to Surya Peak (5,146m) and Trek to Sing Gompa (3,330m)

This takes about 5-6 hours. The trail descends all the way to Singh Gompa passing Lauri Binayak with magnificent mountain views and forests. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 09: Trek to Dhunche (2,030m)

We Trek from Sing Gompa to Dhunche which takes about six hours. The first part of the trail descends through pine, silver oak and rhododendron forests along with marijuana plants. You then cross a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. The path then stretches at a flat level through some human settlements and mineral water factories up to Dhunche. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu (1,400m)
